Before you leave the island
Flights from Madeira to Asia, Africa or South America almost always connect through Lisbon or Porto, with little time between flights. A mainland connection is no place to sort out vaccines: everything has to be done in Funchal first.
Count the deadlines backwards: yellow fever needs 10 days before arrival, and some vaccines need two doses. If you travel in less than 3 weeks, book the online consultation today and the vaccine straight after.
Ponta do Sol and Funchal have a large community of remote workers and digital nomads, many on long trips to Asia and South America. No SNS number is needed for the online consultation; if the CVI asks for one, say in your email that you do not have it yet.

Questions from Madeira
Can I sort out vaccines during my connection in Lisbon?
Do not count on it. Lisbon CVIs book days or weeks ahead. Do everything in Funchal before your flight.
I am a digital nomad without an SNS number. Can I book?
Yes. The consultation is private, in English, and the prescription is valid at the Funchal CVI.
Do I need an SNS number (número de utente)?
Not for the online consultation, which is private. Some CVIs ask for it when you book the vaccine; if you do not have one yet, say so in your email.
Is the prescription accepted at the Funchal CVI – Bom Jesus Health Centre?
Yes. It is a Portuguese prescription, valid at every International Vaccination Centre (CVI) in Portugal and at Portuguese pharmacies. Some CVIs ask you to bring a printed copy on the day.
How much is the yellow fever vaccine?
20 € at the CVI, paid separately from the consultation. The international certificate is issued there and becomes valid 10 days after the vaccine, for life.
