Getting there: by car, take the A21 and A8 to Santo António dos Cavaleiros. Without a car, buses run from Ericeira and Mafra to Campo Grande in Lisbon, a few minutes from Santa Maria Hospital.

Surf trips: what to sort out before you go
Ericeira is a World Surfing Reserve, and many people who live here spend the winter chasing waves in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Morocco or Brazil. Long stays, homestays and reef cuts make hepatitis A, typhoid, rabies and dengue precautions matter more than on a two-week holiday.
The Loures CVI vaccinates on Tuesdays (12:30–16:30) and Thursdays (9:00–13:00). With the prescription from the online consultation, one trip is enough. In September 2026 the phone went unanswered, so book by email.
If Loures has no slot in time, Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon vaccinates every weekday afternoon.

Usually hepatitis A, typhoid and tetanus up to date; rabies is often recommended for long stays. The doctor also checks Japanese encephalitis and malaria depending on the islands.
Is there a CVI in Ericeira or Mafra?

Do I need an SNS number (número de utente)?
