See this week's timesWhat expats in the Nordics often bring to therapy
- The social puzzle. People are kind but private, and friendships take years.
- Light and seasons. Long dark winters affect sleep, energy and mood; summer can feel strangely restless.
- Work and identity. Flat hierarchies and consensus culture can be refreshing, or confusing, for newcomers.
- Family far away. Guilt, missed moments, and the question of where "home" is.
- Couples under pressure. One partner often moved for the other's job.

Frequently asked questions
Can I have online therapy from Portugal if I live in Norway or Iceland?
Yes. Norway and Iceland are in the European Economic Area, and the EU directive on cross-border healthcare has applied there since 2014, so telemedicine is provided under the rules of the country where the clinic is established.
What if I live in Finland?
Finland is two hours ahead of Portugal, so evening slots in Lisbon fall late in Finland. Choose earlier times in the calendar.
Is online therapy as good as in person?
For anxiety, depression, stress and burnout, research shows similar results, as long as you have a stable connection and a private space.
Lon Clinic is registered with the Portuguese Health Regulator (ERS n.º 45475).
