Short answer: with a GP referral, and if you qualify, public schemes make therapy affordable: in Denmark you pay about 402 DKK per session. Without a referral, private sessions cost considerably more. Online therapy in English with EU-licensed psychologists starts at €35 for the first session at Lon Clinic.

What changes the price
- Referral and eligibility. Public schemes cover defined conditions and age groups, often with a session limit.
- Private health insurance. Many Nordic employers offer it. Check whether it covers psychology and whether it accepts invoices from a clinic in another EU country.
- Language. Finding a therapist who works in English can narrow your options and raise the price.
- Waiting time. The cheapest route is not always the fastest.
Is online therapy from another EU country an option?
Yes. Under EU rules on cross-border healthcare, telemedicine is provided under the rules of the country where the clinic is established. Lon Clinic is registered in Portugal. Norway and Iceland apply the same directive through the EEA Agreement, since 2014. See is online therapy from another EU country legal and safe?
