My team is exhausted. What do I do?
Updated · Lon Clinic
Short answer: cut the workload now, before anything else. Postpone what isn't essential, protect rest time and measure burnout to see who needs clinical support. Prolonged exhaustion leads to mistakes, sick leave and resignations.
In the next 2 weeks
- List current projects and delay at least one.
- Stop out-of-hours messages and meetings unless genuinely urgent.
- A short check-in with each person: "1 to 10, how's your energy?"
- Run an anonymous burnout survey.
- Offer confidential access to a psychologist and doctor for anyone at risk.
Afterwards
Review planning so the peak doesn't become the new normal.
